I haven’t used bluehost before, but here are some feedbacks I want to give you from my web experiences.. Well Bluehost is a reliable host but in some part they play a good monopoly business. Their uptime is good.. They have ssh access (but upto a certain level). So If you are good at administering websites and you maintain the site clean daily then I would suggest you to switch to VPS. If you need any helps then just ping me up. I am into this field since 5 years so I can suggest you some ideas according to your comfortness so that it wont be a hectic task for you to manage the website as per your choice..
For ads related stuffs you can refer google ads as they give a good revenue and in some part they also help you to integrate the ads code and hyperlinks according to your site compatibility. So you dont have to worry about it but you make sure you are not uploading anything illegal in ur website coz Google Ads policy changes from tme to time, so sync urself with their TOS(Terms of Service).
And bluehost accepts online payment also. You can pay through ur credit card or through PayPal(if any you have). And its a one time payment(annual). So you cant pay monthly wise.
