You can purchase select domain names on sale on certain sites.
For instance 1 and 1 will sell you a .info domain name for $0.99 and godaddy had some sales thatll sell you a domain name like .com for $1.99.
You can also buy domain names for as cheap as $8.88 on namecheap and they will throw in a whois guard.
But I would recomened searching around a bit, and compare the prices of different registrars.
It depends where you go to register and what type you register. Usually it’s less than $10 a year. You can check prices at http://www.dakotawebhosting.com
Domain names usualy run for about $10-15 to lease about 30 40 to register ( i would register)
Your just like me… At first I thought they had hidden costs etc. but that isn’t the case with good registrars.
http://www.godaddy.com charges almost exactly $8.99 (this includes the $0.25 ICANN fee).
http://www.domainsite.com is $6.99 with no extra charges (they take paypal)
It’s around $6.99-$10 depending what “registrar” you register it at.
