I am thinking about using the cheapeset .com plan (9.99/year) from godaddy with drupal e-commerce module to create a simple e-commerce site. Will this work from the technical side of view? Just dont worry what I am selling, it will be legal product.

Well, your missing an important part of the equation… who is going to host your website? If you don’t have your own server, GoDaddy does hosting for very decent prices: https://www.godaddy.com/gdshop/hosting/s…
Drupal works no problem. Go ahead with that plan, its a really good idea – godaddy provides cheap domain names and hosting, while drupal is an amazing open source CMS, with insane module customization.
Answer: Yes, it will work from the “technical side of view”
There’s a list of what is required for installing Drupal that you can compare to what the GoDaddy hosting offers you at http://acquia.com/documentation/getting-started/acquia-drupal/system-requirements and http://acquia.com/documentation/getting-started/acquia-drupal/php-settings-extensions
You should also seriously consider using Ubercart rather than the e-commerce module – at least compare the two: http://drupal.org/project/ubercart and http://ubercart.org
