To start with, i have just purchased a new pc, a packard bel ipower i9920. I hooked it up to my new pc/tv moniter and i found out the sound doesn’t work on games or youtube. I know this isn’t the pc, but i don’t know the source of the problem. I tried using it with speakers, and i tried using it with only the tv built in speakers but nothing has worked. Everything is plugged in, and i dont understand why it isn’t working. Please help.

Go into the audio system and make sure that none of the inputs are muted. A good way to do this is to right click the speaker icon, choose open volume control and make sure the Volume Control, Wave, SW Synth, CD Player, and Line In mute boxes aren’t checked. You can also do this from the control panel.
If you’re using media player or real player make sure you have installed all of the proper CODEC are loaded.
This assumes you have XP as an operating system.
if you go into start, then your control panel (wherever it may be) and click on your sound settings it should take you into your mixer and you can manually reset your sound to work with whatever you set your speakers to.
sometimes the computer will automatically set the sound of the speakers to ‘mute’ even though you have the knob on them all the way up.
worth a shot.
good luck.
Is your speaker cable attached from the (green) audio out in the back of the PC to the monitor’s audio in jack? Try the head phone jack, sometimes on a front panel, to see if sound works at all.
Might need to go into Device Manager and update audio drivers from your System CD that came with PC.
