URL is the full address to a Web page or file/program. The full address usually starts with “http://” for Web pages, “https://” for secure Web pages, etc. Following these prefixes are the “www.”, domain name, the path and the file name (”http://www.domain.com/path/file.html”)
There are different kinds of domain names. A top-level domain is the .com, .net, .org and so forth. The domain, which is the one you purchase from a registrar, is the part to left of the top level domain (domain.com). Registrars are able to sell domains for certain top level domains. There is also something called a subdomain which is to the left of the domain name (subdomain.domain.com). A subdomain is usually controlled through the host computer and acts like a subdirectory within your site. “www” is a special subdomain that stands for world wide web. Most sites, hosting companies and browsers are able to work without using the “www” just fine.
a domain name is just the name.com or name.org, etc. the url is the entire web address when you go to a particular page. for example, something like http://www.facebook.com/home.php is a URL but facebook.com is the domain.
url is something you see in the address bar
eg:- http://pc3ts.blogspot.com/2008/12/delete…
Whereas in this example domain is pc3ts or blogspot
a domain name is something like this http://www.google.com but a url is something like this http://googl.com/jsfuue/lusfugh/jsdfg?=7…
URL: http://www.example.net/index.html
Domain name: http://www.example.net
Registered domain name: example.net .
A url is the complete internet address of a site like http://www.cnn.com, the domain of that site would just be cnn. If the owner of that site wanted to also own the other extensions, he would have to buy the .net, .org, etc. for a few more bucks extra for each…..if they aren’t taken by someone else.
A domain name is something like ‘zool.fm’. A URL is a full address for a web page, like http://www.zool.fm/ .
