What You Need to Create a Chat Room
Before you install a room on your web server, you need to ensure that your web hosting company provides the right kind of platform.
To install the chat room I am about to recommend, your site needs to support Perl 5.0 and you need to have read/write access to a CGI bin. If you’re not sure about this, ask your hosting company.
If you pay for hosting, I can almost guarantee your host will support this script.
However, if you’re using a free web host like Yahoo/Geocities or AOL, you will not be able to install the chat room script. Most free web site providers do not grant the user appropriate access to run PERL scripts.
Check out with your web host.
For domain name registration and web hosting get all support at http://www.domain-name-register-store.co…
    Good Luck

You can buy a domain name – but in order to set up a community you will also need webhosting. ( GoDaddy offers webhosting at a great price monthly and won’t break ya. ) Yes, go daddy also offers community setups such as php and hosting for larger communities. I use (SMF) Simple Machines Forum… It offers a great way to personalize your online community.
Check out my community I have set-up. http://www.bettermember.net
It’s my social networking site… It offers profiles, forum, chat, Credit, Arcade, participation scores, Online credit shop and much more.
    Hope this was helpful,

P.S. SMF is free…. Mostly in beta but still way cool… Any of the builds really. check out a few of the sites below to learn more about it. Also feel free to contact me.. I would be more than happy to help you get past some of the technical stuff. ;-)
