Do I Need To Pay To Sell The Domain Name?

Category: FAQ   Time: 2009-10-31   Tags: , , ,

So, I just bought a domain name and in order to sell it on godaddy, do I need to pay again?
It says I need to pay for TDNAM – Basic Listing for 3 Months Package for $2.99 and TDNAM Membership w/ DomainAlert. Pro Monitoring for $4.99. The first one sounds reasonable but I don’t know what the second ones for.
Step by step instruction would be appreciated. =D

That’s the advertisement fee for them to put it up on their site.
The pro monitoring is to alert you if somebody has registered a similar domain name to yours if you need that.
Yes, you need to pay if you do it via tdnam and you’ll pay another 5-7% of the sale price once it’s sold!
Do it yourself as suggested is the cheapest option.

There are no fees to sell a domain name as you are the owner. However, if you intend to list it on certain domain name listings, you may have to pay for a fee.
By my experience on TDNAM, if your domain name isn’t short in length, receiving significant traffic or of commercial value, it will be unlikely that your domain name would be bought.
Why don’t you try Sedo.com instead. While the same may apply to Sedo, you won’t have to pay for membership fees and you are charged a low percentage fee only if your domain sells.
Anyway, if you intend to sell a low value domain name, go for Ebay. Here’s a sample of domain names listed on Ebay – http://rover.ebay.com/rover/1/711-53200-… .
I hope this helps. Try not to spend money on unneeded resources to earn money.

The TDNAM membership fee is $4.99 a YEAR… They will put up a for sale page on your domain and handle the transfer and everything for you for a 5% ($5.00 min) commission.
You can sell it yourself if you want.
    1. Put up a “for sale” page on your domain with your contact details.
    2. After you have found a buyer and they have paid, you can just transfer the domain over to them. Be warned that you cannot transfer the domain for 60 days after the inital purchase.
    How to transfer:
    1. Go to the domain management
    2. Click on the domain you want to transfer.
    3. Where it says: Locked: Change — click change and unlock it.
    4. click the Authorization Code: Send by Email
    5. Give the authorization code to the buyer
    6. Your part is done, they will be able to transfer it to their server without any further incident from you.

You can just sell it and push it to another godaddy account for free, this is what a lot of people do on Ebay etc you will see that a condition of sale is that it goes to a godaddy account then the buyer can change the dns or transfer it at their cost
    Hope this helps
