Do I Use My Cpu’s Ip …?

i purchased a domain name from GoDaddy in hopes to host my own website from my computer via IIS. My Internet connection is behind a router. My question is…do i need to make my IP static for others to view my site? If so, what are the security issues invloved?

    no you cannot use your home computer to host a website.

    Your public IP address will need to be static. This will cost extra. Some ISPs require you to subscribe to a business broadband account, even more expensive. You will need to forward the required ports on your router to your private IP address, which should also be set static. You also need to open these ports in your firewall. Obviously any open ports present an additional security risk to your machine, a badly written web page or poorly configured ftp server can allow your machine to be trashed in seconds. You may also need to run your own mail server for the domain, this is a security nightmare unless you fully understand smtp and all its’ pitfalls. Otherwise it will work.
