Does It Matter Where I Register A Domain Name?

Category: FAQ   Time: 2009-12-30   Tags: , , , , ,

I’d like to register a domain name. Does it matter where I register the domain? Can you recommend a specific company?
I’d like to register now but don’t know yet where I should host my site. Should I buy the domain name from the host once I’ve chosen one? Can I register the domain from one company and buy the hosting from another?
Thanks!
Goeran

I strongly disagree with BACHIR that it doesn’t matter where you register your domain name with. It DOES matter, especially nowadays with many offering the moon and very few actually walking the talk.
Price, type of support, how they handle certain issues…all of those can affect your decision whom to go with. Do your research, ask questions (even dumb ones).
    Be aware.

You can register you domain name anywhere. The first link below shows all known registrars. I really like Host Dime for hosting my websites. I suggest them to all my customers. There link is the second one. Let me know if I can help you any more! Good Luck!http://www.internic.net/regist.htmlhttp://www.hostdime.com

it doesn’t matter at all because the domain name will be replicated to all dns server on the internet.
but when it comes to hosting, some companies oblige you to host the reserved name with them while others don’t.
