I just upgraded my GoDaddy hosting from the free one to the minimal paid one. How do I transfer my domain to this account? Can I do this alone or do I need to contact GoDaddy?
Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

If you purchased your domain with another host, you need to be able to access the DNS settings.
Forward the nameservers to:
ns1.godaddy.com
ns2.godaddy.com
If the host you purchased your domain from won’t let you access your DNS settings, you will need to have GoDaddy do a transfer for you. There is a small fee to do this.
If you meant the whole site in general… meaning files:
In that case, you need to have FTP Access to your free-hosting files.

If you do not have FTP Access, yes, you need to contact GoDaddy.
depends if they use the same IP address or not, you can ask them to move it for you or you can upload it off your harddrive if you have a copy there using FileZilla
just point the Domain on the new NS servers supplied by your webhost.
