I have signed up to Hostgator for a year. They are in US and I am in NZ but have been told that does not make any difference.
My question can I set up an email ie sue@”mydomainname.com through a host is that how it works. I am a newbie and would sure appreciate any help Thanks

Yes, the only thing that would hinder you would be if that name is already taken

RE: Sounding Dumb. I’ve dealt with much worse no worries. You would need the email server of the host and you would configure your email through the host server.
I would check with hostgator for the email server adn have them walk you through the config.
