I purchased a domain name at name.com. When I buy web hosting, how do I apply my domain name to the hosting? I know I have to do something with the name servers, but I don’t know exactly what to do, someone please explain?

your hosting company should have told you what to set the name servers to, like ns1.abc.com and ns2.abc.com
You will have to login to name.com and edit the nameservers there. Look in their knowledge base or contact support on how to do this.
Either your web hosting company or the company you registered your domain name with will be able to tie your web site IP to your domain name. Contact them with the details. That’s probably the easiest. Once they’ve added your details to their name server entries, propagation will likely take a while, so give it a day or two before all your users can reach you using the domain name.
