I am trying to place a counter on my website http://www.happyshela.com/webkinz/
My hosting service, Bluehost, has a section under CGI that allows you to place a counter on the site. When I go there, the page name is C Panel X. My “Counter” at the bottom of my page, as you can see, says that the Counter Datafile must be created in C Panel first!
I thought I had done this, but apparently not. What do I need to do?
Thanks

I don’t want to mean or anything like that, but why have a counter on your website? The counter is really out of style for a modern website and no one really uses it anymore unless they haven’t updated their site since 1997. It’s the bell bottoms jeans of web design.
But if you insist on having a counter, return to cPanel and confirm that you actually activated the counter CGI script and that it is in fact running. Sometimes you have to click a button and wait for a message that says that it’s on.
But really, you don’t need a counter. It’s passé, darling. Honest.
You should really ask your internet provider for help, not us.
If the counter thing doesn’t work out, try Google Analytics.
