I have a WordPress blog [hosted on Dreamhost] and I would like to add a favicon to my site. I created a 16×16 image, saved it as a .ico file, uploaded it to my account, and copied some text into my header.php file [I found the instructions on the WordPress website]. This changed my favicon from nothing to a white square, but the two letters on the icon are not present. I checked the image and it’s still good. What have I done wrong?

Need to see the link tag code you used to link to favicon. Saving it as an ICO file is right. Wish people wouldn’t answer questions when they don’t know what they are talking about.
RonSee the following sites for instructions and making one:http://www.html-kit.com/favicon/http://www.chami.com/html-kit/services/f…http://www.degraeve.com/favicon/http://tools.dynamicdrive.com/favicon/http://www.favicon.co.uk/http://www.favicon.cc/
This is a favicon validator site:http://www.html-kit.com/favicon/validato…
Normally a link tag is between the head tags and is like the following:
Don’t save it as an .ico file. This will save it as a Windows icon file. Browsers can’t read this type of file.
Re-save it as a normal GIF. Then, go to the file in your file explorer and rename it to “favicon.ico”. It must be named that, because some conceited browsers like IE ignore tags that point to a file of another name.
I also had problem wit favicon. I was doing everything correctly, but it didn’t display favicon for my site.
Eventually I found a WordPress plugin to display favicon – http://www.digitalramble.com/favicon-man…
you can use http://www.veryicon.com/favicon.php to generate a favicon and put it in you web root directory
