I made an FTP server on port 56, and have the router forwarding all FTP requests to that computer on port 56. How do I give it a domain name (a free one, of course)? I tried NO-IP.com but that does not work. Any suggestions?

Try Dynamic DNS. They’ll let you set up a domain name associated with your external IP. Some routers, like D-Link, will automatically send IP address changes to DynDns or similar services on a schedule.
