How Do You Upload A Web Page?

Category: FAQ   Time: 2010-01-17   Tags: ,

I purchased a domain name and hosting from GoDaddy. Built a web page using SiteSpinner. All pretty easy. Can’t figure out how to upload it to save my life. Is this something that requires experience, because they make it seem that anyone could do it? The moment I put my hand on the mouse to upload I’m stuck. Is there an FTP program in Sitespinner? Where? How would I know where to send it? The moment I reached this stage the logical path vanished. Every answer raises 5 more questions. Why is this so complicated? Is this something the average shmo should never attempt because he’s going to waste a lot of time and money?

Your goDaddy control panel should have a file manager that will let you pull files up to your web space. For a few files that is sufficient but most folks use ftp. I use a couple of tools that have the upload built in. Dunno about SiteSpinner but there are many ftp programs available. FileZilla seems to be popular.
Now, as to where, I think goDaddy uses public_html as your web root. If not, search goDaddy’s wonderful help screens.
