Category: FAQ   Time: 2009-10-02   Tags: , , , ,

hi there,
Just curious to know if i were to have a domain name www.123.com and there is a niche market with keyword plastic coffee makers. If i were to write a blog with subdomain www.plasticcoffeemakers.123.com,would that stand a good of getting indexed by google?
Thanks for the help :)

Sure, that will work, but in the end, it all depends on the content of your website, i.e. the content should relate highly to the keywords plastic coffee and makers. Aslo, you wouldn’t use http://www.plasticcoffeemakers.123.com. The complete URL would instead be plasticcoffeemakers.123.com.
An alternative, and there is evidence that it’s better is to use a subdirectory structure instead of a subdomain: http://www.123.com/plasticcoffeemakers/
    Good luck!

I always preffer and recommend peoples to host their blog in a directory, followed by root directory. Like I have website http://www.dominatingseo.net and I have installed wordpress blog in a directory named “blog”. So the URL of my blog would be http://dominatingseo.net/blog/.
The reason why I recommend this is if you install blog in a directory, you’ll get lill benefit of your actual website. Whereas if you make a subdomain you have to optimize it from scrach. And its always better to add pages in a website to get indexed then making a brand new website, isn’t it ?
I hope I can make my point to you.
