You point the DNS your host gives you to your servers IP address. Unfortunately you will need to have your ISP set a static IP for you, many charge for this. If not you’ll have to change your DNS every time your IP changes
Dyndns supports using your own Domain name while still using an dynamic IP address so that you can continue to have everything work the way it is with Dyndns but with your own domain name.
This service costs $27.50 per year, so it may not fit within your budget. Your IP address may not actualy change that often in which case you might be able to get away with not using it as long as you dont mind the site going down occasionaly.
For example I have a dyndns setup lets say FrostyToad.dyndns.org which dynamicly updates, I also have FrostyToad.com which I have setup to my IP address as well. When my IP changes (once every 3-4 months or so) FrostyToad.Com stops working, but FrostyToad.dyndns.org continues to work so I can login via FrostyToad.Dyndns.org, see my new IP, update my DNS records for FrostyToad.Com and in an hour or so it will start working again.
The service from Dyndns is called Custom DNS and can be found at the below link.
If you purchase your domain at http://www.papatiger.com you will have a nice and easy tool in which you point your domain to your IP address.
After you do that, you have to wait 24 hours for world servers to refresh your IP address and that’s it.
BTW: PapaTiger.com is also one of the best domain registrars.
