I Bought A Domain Name Through Wordpress. Can I Use This Domain Name To Link To My Blogspot Account Instead?

Category: FAQ   Time: 2009-07-25   Tags: , , , , , , ,

How to I go about changing the blog the domain redirects to? I purchased the domain through Wordpress without realising that they do not support Adsens, whilst Blogger is more supportive of this. I don’t want to waste a good domain name.

See if WordPress allows you to transfer the domain to perhaps a GoDaddy account. I would advise you to hold all of your domains at GoDaddy because of the flexibility you will then have over them. Buy all your domains there in the future. One of my GoDaddy domains are in use on one of my WordPress blogs now that I think about it.
Hopefully WordPress won’t prevent you from transferring where the domain is held. Check their terms etc.

First you need to read your agreement with WordPress to see if they will allow you to transfer the domain to another web hosting company. If so, you will need to notify your new web hosting company that you already have a domain and they will redirect it for you. I believe the service is called, “parked domain”. Usually it will take 4 – 8 weeks for the transfer to be completed.

if your PAID for it, the domain is YOURS, search in wordpress for a option to delegate the domain or use a dns management, you have to create a CNAME to ghs.google.com or delegate the domain to cdmon.com or similar and then create the cname in there.
    check this: http://iwantmywww.thedavincisecrets.com
Anyway are you sure you can’t use adsense? I have used it in wordpress blogs…

If you’re going to start your blog at your own domain with different pages, you need a web host providing blog tools. One of these services is reachable at: http://bluehost-service.atspace.com . Their service is really great and easy to use.
You can also try: http://www.goldpuma.com for $.3.99 /month.
