You must set up your domain name servers in which godaddy provided.http://www.juturnalia.com/clientexec/ind…
Here is a tutorial on how to set this up. Just make sure on step 6 you use the nameservers godaddy have given you NOT the ones on the link I sent you.

you can start building your site almost instantaneously. But to be listed on search engines you need to have submitted your site to them. also you have active functional site to list on search engine.
You can get more info at http://www.reseller-hosting.in
There are free services available. I will suggest http://www.webhosting3.com. This is the best in my opinion.
Please have a try and you will just love it.

Having a Domain does nothing for you. It’s like having a street address but no house. You need to set up your web site on a web host. I don’t know if godaddy gives you free hosting and free web space, but if they don’t go try http://www.myownfreeweb.com where you can get 300MB disk space, 10GB bandwidth, free domain, free subdomain, free email, webmail, POP, PHP5, free web builder, MySQL, 29 preinstalled scripts for one click installs and more. Once you build your site then you must direct your ns settings to point to it, (it’s explained in your control panel) and then you will be on the web.

it can take about 24-48 hours for propagation
You do not have to point your domain to any DNS server if you are hosted and bought the domain with godaddy there is nothing special you need to do. Simply wait for the email with your information and you will be good to go.

Godaddy is very Slow and a pain in the you know what. GDI is much easier and has a Site Builder to build your Web Site. I have found it to be much easier for beginners. Godaddy, in my opinion is geared more towards advanced users. Just My Opinion….
