Depends on who you register your domain with. Many of the domain registration entities will provide you, for no additional charge, with either the ability to redirect traffic to another domain that you own or, many will also give you the option to have a “coming soon” parking page or a “business card” page. For example, I have used Hostway for domain registrations (among others) and have used their domain forwarding for free.
