I plan to start up a website and have it ready in 3-5 months. I want to reserve the domain name now by purchasing it through Yahoo — right now, it’s $1.99 for the first year. I want to transfer the domain name to hostmonster.com after I get the site ready. Will I still have to pay into Yahoo to keep my domain name or will my domain name be secured with hostmonster?

HostMonster and BlueHost are owned by the same parent company. Both offer the same quality services at the same prices. But according my experience, BlueHost runs on faster server.
Take a look at the address below before making any decesion:http://top5hosts.atspace.com/bh.htm
GL!
You have two options:
Ask Yahoo to forward the domain to the physical webhosting or forward it yourself if you have the option.
Move the domain from Yahoo to the company that manages your physical webhosting. You will usually pay a moving fee, not to Yahoo but to the other company. The fees are usually low though.
Go ahead and buy your domain… youll have to pay for both unless you go with a company that will give you a free domain. You should try going to http://www.hostgumbo.com/ … they have an up to date comparison chart for the top webhosting companies this year, and many of them give you free domains for LIFE. Thats where i found the company i host my 3 websites through Cant really go wrong with that. Anyhow, good luck!
