Is there a program, free or free trail, that lets you create a domain name and a website and it just puts it on the internet? I’ve heard people say that there is a way but I’m not sure. Maybe a website that shows you how.

You would need to install a webserver on your computer at home. I use Tomcat. It’s free and easy to use (for a webserver)
You could also try using IIS which is a Microsoft service that runs on your computer. You can use it to point incomming requests to your webpage.
In any case you will need to do some research to get a site up on your home machine.
Good luck.
You can create a free website with Microsoft Office Live Small Business, a free service – http://snipurl.com/3803z . It has a free design tool that allows you to create web pages without coding. It has no ads and has 500mb of web space. MS is giving a free domain name for the 1st year.
Look for “free hosting” sites. They give domain name of third level like yourname.theirdomain.com
