Does anyone know if “bluehost” is legitimate or if it is a scam.

They’re legitimate, but that doesn’t mean they’re good…
Reviews about them are mixed, in either direction (the same goes for just about every web host, though):http://www.google.com/search?q=bluehost+…
Try and read as many reviews as you can, and attempt to see through the bias; make a checklist for hosts, and see who gets the most reviews that are positive.
I’ve been with several hosts (not with Bluehost), and I would say GoDaddy is one of the best… personal experience helps a lot, which reviews will give you an insight in.

I googled best web hosts and bluehost came up on top according to an average of several web host reviews. The very popular godaddy came up 7th.
