Is Dreamweaver Worth It?

Category: FAQ   Time: 2009-12-06   Tags: ,

I want to purchase Dreamweaver to make my own website. Is it worth the money? Is it fairly easy to use? How do I “upload” it to a host such as GoDaddy? I have tried researching but I thought this would be a good help to ask others how they started ect. Is it worth it to make my own website than to use templates? I find templates far too hard to personalize. Please let me know!

I have used Dreamweaver and found it very easy to use. You may be able to find an older version for at a discounted price – I would recommend that rather purchasing the latest version.
The site that I used Dreamweaver on did not allow uploading – so what I did was to open the blank document at the host site – then switch screens to my DW source – select all and copy – switch back and paste.
    Worked like a charm.
The nice things about DW was the library functions, and that it would allow you to modify the source – not all html editors allow you to do this.
Have you looked into Coffe Cup? They have a free HTML editor that would be worth looking at before you purchase something.

Yes it is worth it, i have used it before to make a website and upload it, it is very easy to use and to upload to also, it givs you a vast amount of options creating and for the uploading side it is simple, just input your address and info and upload the info to the desired website and your good to go, i would certinaly recommend it.

Dreamweaver is the industry standard as of right now for web design. I personally don’t use the uploading on DW because its a little sketchy sometimes. There are lots of other FTP programs online. Templates and HTML (Or WYSIWYG – what you see is what you get) programs like DW are two different beasts. Templates can be used in DW along with making a site from scratch. It really depends on what the site is used for and how much work you want to put into it and how much you update it.
To get back to your original question in my professional opinion DW is a cause worthy investment if you plan on doing websites frequently.
If you purchased your domain through godaddy make sure you get server space. I personally use Dream Host instead of godaddy servers because its unlimited (for the most part). There are lots of other free WYSIWYG web design programs out there for someone just getting started to feel around instead of making a massive purchase like that.

If you want to make small website with no complicated stuff then dont buy DreamWeaver, just use FrontPage or any free website builder.
but if your going to make big website and you are going into the web designing field then YA GO AND BUY IT it really worth it ….
