On Godaddy.com They Try To Upsell You To Premium Service?

Category: FAQ   Time: 2009-08-20   Tags: , , , ,

After you put in the domains that you want for the low low price – they kind of threaten you by saying now all your private information is going to be waving in the breeze on the Internet. And of course they then offer you a solution to your dilemma – at still more cost. So a few questions.. if you register with other registrar will they keep your information private at no extra charge? Or do they all require extra fees to keep your name and address etc private? And lastly – how are godaddy’s fees compared to other registrars if you compare both their basic domain name service and their premium “keep your address etc private” service??

You will find this with any internet provider. Anyone can do a whois lookup on a domain and if your information is not ‘private’ (which usually does cost more) then anyone can see it. I have godaddy for my domain and I love them – I’ve never had any trouble with any of their services or products. When I was searching around I couldn’t find anyone cheaper. Also – if you will go watch their superbowl commericals on their homepage at the end of them they give you a discount code that is good for 10% off any purchase. :)

    A. Depends on the registrar. Each domain registration company is different. Each offer different services for different fees.
    B. Again, same answer as A. Each company offers different services for different prices. Some will give privacy protection for free, others ask for additional fees to protect that information.
    C. I guess, compared to other services. Their basic & “Advanced” service is a bit high, compared to the services I have used in the past.
