Park Domain Name On Godaddy.com?

Category: FAQ   Time: 2010-01-10   Tags: , , ,

I registered a domain name and I want to park it until I am finished editing my website. How will I know it’s parked? My status says Active-Locked. Do I need to choose the option Default Parked Nameservers , under Nameservers?

It’s parked if you’ve done nothing with it. Just type the address into your Web browser and you should see a holding page.

Not sure on parking a domain, but would it not be just as easy to activate the domain and place a dummy index page stating under construction, come back soon. Then replace / overwrite that page when you FTP your site and publish it.
    Good luck

If you registered your domain name at GoDaddy or any of the other registrars and have not activated it yet chances are they have it parked and are collecting the income from any Pay Per Clicks.
If your website is anywhere near completion do not worry about it, get your site completed and online. If it’s going to be a while set up a temporary under construction page letting visitors know your site is coming or park the site yourself at any of the free parking companies.
Unless you have a really good domain name that is receiving a lot of direct navigation traffic I wouldn’t worry about doing anything, the income is probably near zero.
    Focus on completing your website.
