Private Domains – Hiding Personal Details And Host?

Category: FAQ   Time: 2009-07-15   Tags: , , , , ,

I use Host Gator for my hosting. I would like a Domain service which hides all my personal details as well as the host of the domain (Host Gator).
I know I can use Name Cheap which has Whois Guard which allows you to enter your own Name Servers which show as ns1.sitename.com instead of ns1.hostgator.com but if you do a search for my domain on Who-Hosts.com you’ll still see that Host Gator is the host.
So is there any service which will NOT display my host in Who-Hosts.com or similar services like it?

    You can’t hide that information.
The only thing you can hide is the DNS info, just as the Whois Guard you mentioned.
Even if you find a way to hide the NameServer info, someone can check your hosting provider by the following steps:
    (1) ping your domain to get your IP
    (2) use ip2location.com to get the ISP of your server
Since you can’t hide your IP, there is no way to hide your ISP info.

You’re talking about the name servers.
Unfortunately, that information cannot be hidden.
