Category: FAQ   Time: 2009-11-15   Tags: , ,

Im making a game that will require alot of bandwith depending on the total online users. The game is in java and can be played in a browser. Heres the thing, can i purchase website hosting from eg: GoDaddy and use their services to host my game? (since technicaly its just like any other website except its a game).
just wondering if there might be any problems

You may want to consider dedicated server in your case. Shared hosting sucks and will quickly ask you to upgrade if you require a lot of bandwidth. Don’t trust those “unlimited bandwidth” packages. They are just sales pitches.
If you need a recommendation for a dedicated server that doesn’t suck, try http://hostingsthatsuck.com/serverpronto…

If your game doesn’t have any server component other than the files that get sent to the browser you can use any hosting that lets you upload web pages.
