I’ve been looking through the web hosting services and am divided on POWWEB, Go Daddy, and Host Monster.
I was just about to go with Host Monster, however, I found out that Host Monster does not offer SMTP. What exactly does this mean? In doing this search, I am looking for a email service that will offer me convenient ways to send and receive messages through the computer and/or PDA. Does SMTP affect this?
Thanking You in Advance!

Hello Tanned,
You need an SMTP server in order to send out messages. I use Godaddy so I know what they have and don’t have.
Imagine if you could see your messages all day long but could not email them out. That is what using Host Monster would be like. You would have to find your own SMTP server to send out from. I know that many ISP’s will allow you to send from their server on a residential account. Also, a lot of cell phone companies have their own outgoing server.
However, if you want to bypass them, you could go with Godaddy and they have a way to bypass the filter on port 25, thus allowing you to send outside of your ISP.
If you went with Host Monster, this method wouldn’t be an easy way to do email.
I discovered your homepage by coincidence.
Very interesting posts and well written.
I will put your site on my blogroll.
Very helpful post! Thank you
