I’ve been looking at web hosting… (hostmonster, webhostingpad etc
and it shows on the ‘payments’ section
12 month price – $5.95*
and no ’setup’ fee…
does this mean payments will be taken out each month of $5 or do i need to pay a full 12 month payment one off and the $5 is what it works out to be? I don’t want to enter payment details if it is going to take a full years payment out?

It’s the standard way hosting companies advertise their prices.
They express their prices as monthly prices, but you have to pay at least 12 months upfront, or they even advertise monthly prices which you can only get if you pay 24 or even 36 months upfront, as in your example of Hostmonster. To get the monthly price of $5.95 with Hostmonster you have to pay 24 months upfront.
I recommend one of these hosts: http://www.hosttell.com/
Those prices in the table are monthly prices if payed 12 months upfront.
Powweb is on a 50% sale – $3.88/month ($46.56/year), and you get a free domain from them.
Godaddy doesn’t offer a free domain, but you can get one for $2.19 if you’re buying hosting from them, plus they also have a 20% sale at the moment.
Of those companies, only Godaddy offers actual monthly payments.
It’s $6.99 for the Deluxe plan, if payed monthly.
Generally if you select to pay for a full year it will take all of the money then. (may vary depending on what host but not likely) If you do not wish to pay for a ful year see if they have a monthly option (usually the full year plan is cheaper but if you click 12 months you are playing for 12 months right then and there. and 6$ is probably not going to be split up monthly. (a reason for this is so the host can still keep the money if you leave them during that year.)
Good writing. Keep up the good work. I just added your RSS feed my Google News Reader..

Hi Omigcant,
Generally you have to pay for a full hosting term up front ( They don’t bill per month, almost always per year). Some hosts do offer a 3 month hosting plan however it is much more expensive. Also when choosing a host, you should plan to stay with them. Switching your domain and site to another hosting provider can be difficult and time consuming.
Powweb offers pay by the month hosting, however I would suggest paying for a full year. Why? They have a holiday special on.. for $3.88 per month which is $46 per year. A very competitive price; I’ve used powweb before and can recommend them. Here is a breakdown of their prices:
Terms What You Get You Pay
3 Months $30 Setup Fee. $7.77/month. $53.31 -
1 year HOLIDAY SALE! <—Actually cheaper than buying for 3 months
3.88/month* $46.56
2 years FREE Setup!—2 Years FREE Domain Name! $5.77/month* $138.48
Most web hosting company provide three price about the hosting plan. That’s three month price, 12 month price,24 month price. The last two price needn’t “setup” fee. But, If you choose the first one, you must pay for the setup fee. The total fees will almost equal to the 12 month fees. So you would like to choose the 12 month price or 24 month price. Usually, the 24 month price is the lowest. Of course it a meth od to promote.
12 month price – $5.95, that is to say, you shoule pay $5.95 * 12=$71.4 a time.(http://www.webhosting-view.com)
t’s near impossible to get a free domaina name without hosting but I suggest you have a look at http://www.hosting24.com they will register a domain name for free for life and come with unlimited webspace and unlimited data transfer and you can go with them on a monthly basis with money back guarantee!!
Also when you sign up with them if you enter in a discount code they will give you 25% off their ridiculously cheap hosting plans. code to use is 25OFF
I host all my sites there and have been more than pleased with their help and support which is available by phone support! I hope this helps

you need to look at different deals but usually you have to pay up front for the whole year. Check out these hosts and if you can’t find the payment details call them and ask them .That way you get an idea of what their support. is like.http://webhostingsites.wordpress.com/
>> o.k i just checked if you click the link for the first host on the site I showed you Hostgator works by the month that way you do not have to commit and you can pay monthly.
They are giving you that price per month, but you’d have to pay full up front. I have a website that we pay for every year for the full year. I also pay my domain name yearly as well. So it will be $71.40 plus tax for you. Unless they do pull out monthly, but they didn’t for me.
http://www.goldpuma.com is the lowest cost service which is full-featured and really works for you ($4.75 /month). They accept monthly payments.
12 months for 5.95…that means (for example) January-December is only 5.95.
In my experience it depends on what host you use. Personally I’ve switched to Central Fusion and they offer both monthly and yearly.
should’nt you be asking this question at the web hosting web site? you could also try reading their frequently asked questions (faq) in web lingo.
If it says that, I would think it means for the year, otherwise it should say “monthly price is”.
