I am looking to design a website and I must say I don’t know what the he!! I am doing. I am very frustrated at this point. I know 12 year olds do this but I am having a hard time. I have created an account with hostmonster.com, but their page wizard is not easy. Are there any other sites for web designer dummies? or does anyone have any suggestions. I am trying to start a business so I can’t pay someone $700 or more to make me a site. I have layout pretty much just need an easier option. Thanks

Have you thought about a free open source content management system that will do pretty much what you want “out of the box”. There are a number of these freely available for download. Two I can recommend are:
PostNuke – Downloadable from here:http://www.postnuke.com/
DotNetNuke – Downloadable from here:http://www.dotnetnuke.com
PostNuke is written in Php whereas DotNetNuke is written in vb.net.
Both have lots of add in modules that can help you get the desired effect from your website and both have great forums where you can ask questions and more often than not get the answers to those questions.
Both are “skinnable” which means you can design the graphics etc for the site and lay out the “forms” as required.
If you would like to start modifying the source (which is provided), the forums may be a good place to get help in doing this.
Whichever option you might choose, get a good book. There are lots of good resources on both php and vb.net on the web.
Good luck
Hope this helps
I am 12, but I have been studying computer graphics and HTML for at least 3 years. I could help you if you want.
Lissaexplains.com is also very hepful for beginners.
ask on yahoo answes somebody will know
I used free hosting for a while but came to realize that it is free for a reason. They make their money off pop ups and advertising.
If this is just a page for you then free is good… Other wise why go free when you can own your own domain name and have it hosted for 1 dollar a month.
I use the 3 dollar package because it gives you the online web builder.
BUT if you choose a dollar a month package then
godaddy.com – 8.99 a year for a domain
1 dollar a month for hosting
so your cost for a site with your own name with no pop ups is 21.00 a year
I say this because of the freebies that they offer.
Message boards, Blogs, Private pages and you do not have to know how to program.http://www.3ix.org/sys/aff.php?aff=2699.…
Thanks

If you want to do the whole stuff yourself without paying any penny to anyone, it would be better if you can learn HTML.
Its very easy and unlike other computer programing languages.
Learn HTML here:http://www.w3schools.com
Yes, learn html (and maybe php).
Maybe you can find people, who just educated as graphic/web designers, and therefore do it for less money.
Or people who just get it, but don’t work as it. (like me, i’m 13, but i’d made websites for a lot of companies.)
The cheapest way to make your website look great is to pickup a book and teach yourself how it is done.
HTML and CSShttp://search.barnesandnoble.com/booksea…
After you learn those its time for JavaScripthttp://search.barnesandnoble.com/booksea…
Here is a good program similar to photoshop that will help you edit the images on your future website. It is open source software (free). There are videos on youtube that can show you how to use it.
Gimp http://www.gimp.org/

Once you learn to make your website look great use companies like PayPal to handle all the behind the scenes stuff like payments.https://www.paypal.com/
