What All Is Required To Get A Forum Website Going?

Category: FAQ   Time: 2009-06-30   Tags: , , , ,

I want to set up a forum based website, but i have no experience of web programming or what all is involved. My plan is to use nvu to design the site, either smf or xmb forum software and bluehost to host the whole thing.
So is this possible? And if so, how difficult would it be to do? (I can get help from mates who are doing computer courses if I need to)
Or am just dreaming and should spend big money on a professional designer to do it for me…
Thanks guys

I don’t recommend you to spend a lot of money up front.
Get some cheap shared hosting like one of these: http://www.hosttell.com/
Bluehost is great for this, and there are even some better offers.
Powweb has the best offer right now. It’s on a 50% sale – $3.88/month ($46.56/year), and you get a free domain from them.
Most of these hosts include easy, one click install of couple forums (like phpBB), so that would be the easiest way to start.

Hey man, first of all You need to get yourself a Domain name, after that you need to get hosting for your Website.
and After that you need to get a forum script working for you.
You can buy hosting or you can get Hosting through a Rebates website.
A rebate basically means a cash back.
there are a lot of companies that offer Rebates for Hosting.
    But I like Webhosting-10
These guys offer a 100% rebate/Cash back after you have not canceled your hosting account for 30 Days.
I’m feeling Really Good Today so I’ll make a forum for you free of cost.
ofcourse assuming that you pay for your hosting & website charges.
If you want I can setup your forum using phpbb or vanilla, which ever you desire, and I wont even charge you a penny! :)

As you may know a domain name is just a name, not a real website. If you are going to create your forum website: 1- Buy a domain name. To get a domain name, you have to pay an annual fee to a registrar for the right to use that name. 2- Buy a web hosting service to provide your online space and enable you to get your website online at your purchased domain name.
If you’re going to create a forum site at your own domain without any forced ads, you need a web host providing forum tools (phpbb or vbulletin).
One of these services is reachable at: http://bluehost-service.atspace.com . Their service is really great and easy to use.
If you sign up for this service you will have $75 credits to advertise your created forum with the google & yahoo search engines for free!
    Take a look also at:http://www.threehosts.com/forumhttp://www.threehosts.com/build
    Hope this helps.
