What Do You Do After Registering A Domain Name?

Category: FAQ   Time: 2009-07-05   Tags: , , , ,

I want to register a domain name and create a website. I can get a domain name for about 7 bucks…but what happens after I buy it? How do I work on the site? I have hosting already. Will they give me a login or something after registering the domain?

When you register a domain name you will have to get your hosting either through that company or through another one. If you set up your hosting and domain through the same company then they should give you everything you need to work on your site right there. If you set up with another hosting company then you will need to either forward your website to your other hosting company or you will need to Change your DNS to your other hosting company. Either one will help you with that through support.

If you’re creating a site for commercial purposes… such as you want to make money from it or provide services… and you desire Search Engines to find you in Top competitive keywords… I wouldn’t suggest buying a new domain same.
yet, after you have registered new one, or bought like 10 year old domain… then there’s only one thing you need to do…
    link DNS to your hosting.
though, if you bought the domain name with the hosting account… then you don’t need to do any DNS configurations…
you’ll just receive an email from them which tells you the
ftp address, username, password… and it takes about 3 days until you can upload your site to your new domain.
it’s actually very simple… (if you still have problems, contact your hosting).

You’ll have to find someone to host your site and then build it.
Check out Yahoo’s web services. I just registered a new website for a start package of $8.95 month. They pay the domain registration fees and the interface toi build your website is easy to use.
No, it don’t work for Yahoo. I have two sites with them and can’t beat the value.

Try bludomain! Go there, they have reasonable designed and easy to maintain sites and you can upload it to your hosting place.

i don’t see the point in what you’r trying to do. have you considered selling your domain name?
i think, maybe you should consider selling your domain name. looks like people are making a lot of money these days doing just that. i read a CNN Money article just the other day about this website called http://wealth.to it looks like the domain such as this one is up for grabs for some hundred thousands of dollars… maybe you should think about doing the same. however u don’t understand how all this works out? frankly, whats so great about the domain anyways? come on… who’s gonna pay so much for a domain? its unreal. but u should think about it.

I recommend you check out Office Live Small Business from Microsoft. It lets people make their own websites, and since it is template based, you do not need to know any web page coding languages. The service is easy to use and extremely affordable. There is a gallery on the homepage with examples and case studies of business who have used Office Live Small Business to get their website going.
