Now you need a place to put your website.. i.e. a “hosting” company. Alot of time the places you have registered your domain name through provide cheap hosting. Also you will need to point the DNS Servers to your hosting company’s IP Address so that any requests for YOURDOMAIN.COM will goto your hosted website.
Hope this helps.

There’s a few factors and different circumstance dictate your actions.
1a) If you host it yourself:
* You’ll need a static IP#, or a service like TZO.org
* A server. (Decide on the operating system)
* If the server has behind the scenes access via either a CD-ROM or monitor/keyboard and disk drive you may not need software on the server to securely SSH/ or FTP to the server (but you may still wish to have it)….
1b) If you’re allowing another service to host for you:
*Make sure you know how to FTP or SSH to the server so that you can upload your pictures, images, and webpages to the server.
*Make sure you subscribe to a service that has the right amount of monthly bandwidth included.
I’m not sure… But I think Dreamweaver has included in their software package an instant way to FTP changes to your remote webserver. To get started I would suggest you create a folder on your desktop which you can name something like “Website” or something like that… You can save all your HTML files in this folder. Inside the “Website” folder create an “Images” server…..
This serves 2 purposes. 1) It is a backup of your full website. Incase anything goes wrong. and 2) It allows you to make the changes on your PC first. You can test it in your various browsers before you upload and make it live and so on…
In the case of either…. You need to change your domain name record. You need to point the Nameservers/DNS records to your web hoster’s servers.
What sort of site are you doing?
Forget dreamweaver and all those other programs.
Build your site the right way using this:http://www.buildmybusinessonline.com/buiā¦
You get flash, calendars, ecommerce, databases, forms, language translator and more.
The first page on your site should be index. Dreamweaver is great for a beginning user but can do some weird things with code so you’ll want at least a basic understanding of html. DW also has an ftp program built in so it’s easy to get and put your files.
Good luck.
If you currently are a web subscriber, your current provider offers a homepage into which you can FTP your current webpage(s) [which can be authored/designed using Composer [an authoring tool which is free when using Netscape browser], NotePad, MSN Word, FrontPage, DreamWeaver, etc.] and use the homepage hosting services. In a sense, you are hosting a commercial webpage via the homepage link and incurring merely the monthly access of, say, AOL.com, etc. Nevertheless, should you want to link your current domain name to the homepage URL, you’ll need to use a third-party redirection service, i.e., mydomain.com [which is free] or simply direct your domain name registry, i.e., godaddy.com to forward your domain name [with masking] to the link it to your homepage URL. It’s that simple.
Good luck!
