I am building a webpage that will be a lot like a blog but it will also include pictures and other pages as well. I’m building it on my mac.

Well that really depends on what kind of technologies your using on your web page. If you are using asp, with IIS as a server then you would need to make sure that the hosting company will support that technology. If it’s just a static website then you can set up your own site with relative ease using wampserver.
