I want to buy a couple URL’s (that are not currently in existence). What is the best site to go through to get them, and why? (Think GoDaddy.com, Register.com, domains.yahoo.com, etc)..

godaddy.com is one of the most user friendly domain registrars out there. If your level of expertise is not way up there, then I would recommend them very much. They have a ton of features that are very simple to use. They have automated reminders to let you know when it’s time to renew your registration, and they can offer you just about any service for your domain from day one. Depending on how many options you add though, their prices can get a little high.
On the other side of the spectrum I also use 1and1.com Their interface is not as user friendly as godaddy, but they are cheaper! Their basic fees usually include free private registration (very good feature since it prevents spammers from having easy access to your email address) and sometimes they offer one free year of registration of any .info domain. I believe that they’re still offering free email with any registration too. That means that if you pay the registration fee, you don’t have to pay extra to have an email address with that domain name!
I currently manage over 25 domains and over the years I’ve tried just about every registrar out there and these two registrars are the ones I’ve come to rely on and trust…. I hope this helps you.
There r 2 stages to buying a URL:
1.Find if the domain name is available
2.Buy the domain name.
For step 1, all the sites use a service called whois (whois.org) which can tell u who a domain is registered to or if its available. This service is free of cost and u can either go to whois.org or use it from networksolutions.com or register.com
Once u know that a domain name is available, you need to buy it. The cheapest domain parking solution provider is godaddy.com . There’s no other site which provides it a cheaper price (I think its around $7.95 for year). On the other hand, register.com is the most expensive (around $30 for one year)
