When Someone Enters My Url I Want It To Go Directly To My Index.aspx Page. Why Do It Get A “page Not Found”…

…error? It doesn’t redirect to my index.aspx page.
I have the .net framework installed and if I manually add “/index.aspx” into the address box of my brower, my page displays fine.
I am using Dreamweaver and I am using godaddy.com for hosting which has a testing server and remote server. If I have that I wouldn’t need IIS would I?
Also, when I preview the page in Dreamweaver it goes automatically to the “.index.aspx” page.
Help, please!

  1. Mozz(2009-12-31):

Rename the file as “default.aspx” instead of “index.aspx”.
Godaddy.com windows hosting supports following default home page names:
    default.asp, default.html, default.hm, default.aspx, default.shtml, default.shtm, index.html, index.htm, index.asp, index.shtml, index.shtm, home.html, home.htm, home.shtml, home.shtm, welcome.html, welsome.asp.

You need to go into the IIS settings for your site and add index.aspx to the list of default pages. Sort the list to have index.aspx at the top.

How are you handling the redirect?
When I’ve wanted to redirect, I’ve used the http equiv refresh option.http://www.cryer.co.uk/resources/javascr…
If this doesn’t work for you, google using http equiv redirect as the search criteria. It will show you several options.
    Good luck!
