Where can I ‘purchase’ a website and what is a ‘host’ for a website?
Hi,
I’m looking to get a website and some people say www.godaddy.com hosts them or something and other sites. Does this mean they provide you with some things and you pay them? Can you buy your own website and do it yourself?
Also,
where can I purchase a website?
just curious…
i’m getting it anyway.
i asked this yesterday
but i was wondering if i needed a host?
would it be best to have a host?
thanks

Try the site below
and yes, you need a host
A host is somewhere where your web files are actually stored, where the domain name points to.
The link below sells both in a package
Here is the procedure in short.
Buy domain from namecheap.
Buy web hosting from websites like http://aplis.net/
Upload few html files to your webhost, you are done. Or else you may contact a web designer to set it up for you. Check websites like http://getafreelnacer.com/
I personally recommend yahoo geocities. for $10 a month you can get a domain name and hosting. you get 100 gig data transfer and 2 gig of drive space which is enough for most users. if you are gonna host videos and music then i might suggest getting more but for just general pages and some pics geocities is good.
You can have me design you site and host you website with the best website in your country with no “rib-offs”, “fraud” or “knock-off” involved. Just let me know and we’ll talk from there…
A host is a company or some guy who owns webserver and uploads your website files on the servers so that the world can access them. You have to pay the hosting guy/company on a monthly/ quartely or annuall period.
You also need to buy a doman name. i.e::: http://www.tottoo.com and renew it annually so that no one takes it.
If you need more info and you’re also looking for a pro-site, just let me know. I’m cheap and offer free website updating…
To own a website you primarily need two things – The Webserver space and a Domain name.
Domain name is something like http://www.yourname.com which usulally costs around 15$ USD depending upon .com or something similar
Webserver is the space where you store your files on the web. It is something similar to a email account. But you have to purchase the space and get the username and password.
The cost of the server again depends on how much space you want. Websites like godaddy.com offer a good deal.
Now how to make a site:
1) First purchase a domain name
2) If you dont have webserver space, buy that too
3) Host the domain name on your server
4) Design the site and upload.
Websites can be designed using editors like MS Frontpage, MS Web Expression, Adobe Dreamweaver, etc. Website designing is not very difficult but the security, aestheticity, professional feel of the site depend upon your skill and knowledge on how to make a website.
Parties outside do charge a lot of money to design a site.
