    To make it simple, these companies buy worldwide domains to get more hits on their sites and to attract international users. This all equals money.

    Not sure what you actually mean by the question. You’ll find that Google/Yahoo/ many other large companies will register their name as a domain name in every country where it’s available.
    If google.eu is owned by anyone else other than Google, I’d say that that won’t be the case for long. Google would for sure have an International copyright on the name Google and will sue the pants off anyone who tries to sit on their domain name!

    Hello,
    Most big companies register extension in all possible TLD’s to protect their brand. My be some one can missuse the similar name, like if some one take google.eu , he might misuse it as a normal person will think it belongs to google.
