The website I created is http://www.eTreasureHunting.com. I have heard from a few sources that it loads slow. Would you mind taking a look and giving me some ideas on how I could improve it? In your case I would first change the links in my pages to be relative links instead of going out to the web to fetch the pages that are on the server you are already on. I also noticed about 7 errors in the HTML validation of your home page but that is not significant to your load speed.
I noticed that even though I have high speed internet connection here it took several seconds to form the connection with your web server to begin to load the pages on my machine.
I would also do a search for internet seer as I have a monitoring service from them that gives me weekly reports on my connection speed for one of my sites. The connection time is measures in fractions of a second in my case this past week my average connection time was .05 seconds and I typically average about .11 seconds Still either way it is making the connection to the server in under one second.
Also when I did a whois query on your domain name I noticed that bluehost is not only the owner of the name but also the web servers. If I was to have purchased a domain name I would be sure it got put in my name and I would transfer it over to godaddy as a registrar as well. Godaddy is the cheapest on renewals anyway. Having all my domain names on one account makes management a lot easier.
If it turns out that you need more bandwidth on your server I would suggest switching web hosting companies as well. I did a lot of research and have found the one that best suits my needs as well as my customer needs and put a link to it on my web page at :http://lakeareawebs.com/links.html

if its a free web page maker that might be why and also because of how many people are on the page at the same time could lag it….

Didn’t take long for me. Same or faster than other sites I’m on all day.
Pretty much it would load slow for some people because of the internet connection your host is running, the internet connection the user is running, and all the internet connections in between the two.

I don’t know if 3 sec.is slow ! The sources that say it loads to slow must not be using DSL or broadband. No I think it loads quit fast.
